It is almost time for us to move abroad and live our lives as an, here it comes fancy word, Expat! Wait, what?

The free dictionary defines 'Expatriation' as follows: 1.the act of expelling a person from their native land; "men in exile dream of hope"; "his deportation to a penal colony"; "the expatriation of wealthy farmers"; "the sentence was one of transportation for life,

or 2. migration from a place (especially migration from your native country in order to settle in another).

I do not feel like I am being 'expelled' or 'transported for life', so let's opt for the second definition: 'migration from a place' I call home. Is this a sad thing? Hell no! My attachment to my 'Patria', fatherland, is not a very strong one, nor one I could never think of breaking.

In fact, the idea of leaving everything behind (except my dearly beloved ofcourse, please refer to the future part 2 of these series) is a very exciting one. It makes me feel way more adventurous than I actually am.

And why? It just means we are going to settle, again, in another place, do groceries at a different store, do the laundry in a different machine and drive different roads to work. It will be just the same, but far away from where I am now. It will be 'Ex Patria'. And I am very excited!
