The first days in the New World

Finally, we made it to the New World! Ready for money, fame and glory ( or something similar at least ).
Unfortunately, our first days here in the States were less fairytale-like than we would like to admit to the outside world. Instead of sipping Coronas poolside in the beaming sun next to our brand new Mustang, we were in a city appartment listening to the rain and looking at our borrowed Hyundai...
Luckily there was enough to keep us occupied. First of all, we had to:
- make sure we could communicate with the people we left behind ( and to look for future friends ). Which basically equals racing to the local Apple store right after our arrival to spend more money than we anticipated...
- make sure we could pay for the house of our dreams ( and to safe for future adventures ), which
equals running to the bank to open a bank account, which means waiting, smiling to the manager, waiting again, smiling to the intern, waiting once more and finally smiling to our very own debit cards...
And now I didn't even mention the international wire transfers yet. I am not even going to, I will leave that to your wild imagination ( hint: frustration ).
- make sure we could go to work and Walmart ( and to the Apple store ). So, here we are, surfing on our brand new laptop searching for that dream Mustang. Which, of course, does not exist. ( Equals borrowing that other car again ) And don't forget that international wire transfer frustration here...
- and we had to make sure we could use that car longer than 90 days, equals studying for a driver's license all over again ( and please make me pass that parallel parking test ). Luckily, the rules are simple: you turn right on red, except when you can't and you stay in your lane, except when you can't. Easy.
So, in the end we spent our days driving around town in a borrowed car to arrange our basic needs, which equals buying ourselves broke within one week...
Happy times
